The School was originally built on this site in 1871 and was a Victorian Building with a Bell Tower. The design of the new school, in 1973, reflected that of the Bell Tower, in the pyramid structure of the roofs above the classrooms.

When the new school opened in 1976, the Bell Tower was kept and placed in front of the new school by the P. T. A. as a link with the past.

St. Mary's Lower School caters for children of  4 - 9 years of age from the village and surrounding areas. As a Voluntary aided school, we also offer places to children whose parents wish  their children to attend a Church of England School, and so receive an education consistent with the values and beliefs of the Church of England.
" A village school OFSTED inspectors will never forget. "
